Just today, TiVo announced that they are offering some promotional prices for the Holiday season. From now until Feb. 3rd, you can get the TiVo service for as low as $8.31/month (if you prepay for 3 years). Along with the discounted service fee, TiVo also announced that existing customers can purchase a an additional TiVo and get a lifetime service subcription for $399 (offer good until Feb. 13th). If you interesting in seeing a summary of what has changed, you might want to head on over to TiVoLovers.
I don’t think I am going to take advantage of the $399 lifetime subscription offer mainly because I’m still concerned about the SDV issue. What do you think? Are you planning on taking advantage of this offer?

Today is your luck day if you’re in the market for a single-tuner Series 2 TiVo. For a limited time, you can actually profit $31 (after a $170 rebate) on the purchase of an 80 hr Series 2 TiVo. There’s no need to re-read what you just read, TiVo is essentially giving you $31 if you decide to “purchase” this DVR.
Of course, the aforementioned DVR is not a dual-tuner TiVo however, you can’t beat the price. In fact, I’m thinking about picking one up just so that I have another DVR for when TiVo enables MRV (multi-room viewing) on the Series 3.
As always, I would appreciate it if you would put my email address (raianoat AT gmail DOT com) down as your referrer when you activate your TiVo.
Thanks for the tip Bob!

Remember back in July when I blogged about how TiVo was offering a Series 2 DT DVR along with a free TiVo wireless adapter and a $15 Amazon Unbox gift all for only $97.94? Well, here’s a little reminder that the offer I just mentioned is about to expire. According to TiVo’s website, the offer ends on Sept 7, 2007.
If you decide to take advantage of this offer, I would appreciate it if you put me down as your referrer (raianoat AT gmail DOT com) when you activate your TiVo.

TiVo’s latest rebate offer (PDF) allows you to get a Series 2 TiVo for next to nothing after rebate. The rebate is valid from July 29th to Sept. 8th and it allows you to receive $150 off of a Dual Tuner TiVo or $170 off a single tuner Series 2 TiVo. Thanks to this rebate, you can now get a dual-tuner 80 hr TiVo for $58.99
($208.99 - $150) after rebate. A single tuner 80 hr. Series 2 TiVo will set you back $13.00
($183.00 - $170).
If it were up to me, I would go with the dual-tuner TiVo. Having just one tuner makes it difficult to use your TiVo. With one tuner, you’re constantly having to decide which show to record. Get a dual-tuner TiVo! You’ll be happy you did it.
If you decide to take advantage of this offer, I would appreciate it if you put me down as your referrer (raianoat AT gmail DOT) when you activate your DVR.

Update 06/29 @ 4:36AM: Dave Zatz found a page over at TiVo.com which allows you to transfer your lifetime subscription. The fine print indicates that the offer is available from June 28th to July 23rd and that it is only valid for lifetime subscriptions which were activated before June 15, 2003. As always, you should read the fine print if you try and take advantage of this offer.

A long time reader to this site (Robert Aitchison) recently sent me some interesting feedback that I thought I should share with everybody. According to Robert, TiVo recently sent him an email indicating that he could transfer his lifetime subscription from his Single tuner Series 2 TiVo to a more updated Series 2 dual tuner TiVo. The email doesn’t say if this offer would apply if Robert owned a Series 1 TiVo.
Interesting E-Mail I got today from TiVo. Seems they are offering me the chance to move my lifetime sub (I have 2 Series2 TiVo’s with lifetime) to a new Series2 DT.
Now since both of my TiVo’s are 80 hour already lifetime there really isn’t a lot of incentive for me to take them up on this offer, but if I had a Series1 I suspect it might be a different thing. Of course who knows if the offer is being sent to Series1 customers as well.

I’m not sure how long this has been available however, TiVo.com is offering a factory renewed Series 3 TiVo for $499 with free shipping. The great thing about this deal is that you don’t worry about sending in a rebate like last week’s deal. According to TiVo’s website, all factory renewed DVRs include TiVo’s regular product warranty as well as a 30 day money back guarantee.
If you do decide to take advantage of this offer, I would appreciate it if you put me down as your referrer (raianoat AT gmail DOT com) when you activate your TiVo.

Don’t forget that tomorrow (6/16) is the last day for you to be able to take advantage of the $200 Series 3 rebate. This $200 rebate brings the price of the Series 3 down to a manageable $406.95 ($606.95 - $200).
TiVo will probably introduce another deal sometime in the near future however, if you’re in the market for a Series 3, you might want take advantage of this offer since this is the cheapest I’ve seen the Series 3 thus far.
As always, if you do take advantage of this offer, I would appreciate it if you put me down as your referrer when you activate your TiVo (raianoat AT gmail DOT com).

Several sites are reporting that TiVo has plans to offer a $200 rebate on the Series 3 TiVo. The rebate form (DVRUpgrade.com, PDF) states that the rebate is valid from May 27th to June 16th. If all stays the same, this could mean that you will be able to get a Series 3 TiVo for ~$400 ($606.95
- $200)!
While $400 is a good deal for the Series 3, I think I am going to wait and see if I can get two more referrals so that I can get the Series 3 for free. START_SHAMELESS_PLUG As always, if you want to help me get a Series 3, you can enter my email address (raianoat AT gmail DOT com) when you activate your TiVo /END_SHAMELESS_PLUG.

Will the Series 3 TiVo see a significant price drop by the end of the Q1? The folks over at Gizmodo seem to think so. Gizmodo has posted a tip that they received from one of their readers. The tipster stated that they spoke with a TiVo service rep and that the rep said that the Series 3’s price would drop significantly before the end of this quarter.
I’m going to chalk this one up as yet another rumor however, if it is in fact true, you know I’ll be one of the first individuals to buy one. Although the Series 3 has been available for as little as $588, it’s still too expensive for me. I’d really like to see it for ~$500. Having to watch HDTV live really sucks and because of my situation, I can’t go with a my cable company’s DVR.
