Update 1/8 @ 9:47AM EST: TiVo has updated their website which now includes a link to Roxio’s software. Apparently TiVo has been working with Roxio to provide this software. The following press release contains even more details.
“The demand for TiVoToGo continues to grow rapidly, especially as the use of mobile devices for viewing video becomes more pervasive. Now, through our joint alliance with Roxio, we are able to answer that strong demand by delivering TiVoToGo to the Mac platform,” said TiVo’s vice president of product marketing, Jim Denney. “By extending this capability to the passionate Mac community, TiVo continues to support our idea that “It’s not TiVo, unless it’s a TiVo.”‘
For a limited time if you purchase Roxio Toast you will also receive a free TiVo glo remote!
To celebrate the arrival of TiVoToGo for the Mac OS, courtesy of TiVo, customers who purchase Toast 8 Titanium either at Macworld Expo booth #314 or through www.roxio.com/macworld can receive a FREE TiVo Glo remote, a $49.99 value. This offer is for a limited time while supplies last.
Dave Zatz got the scoop on the latest version of Roxio Toast for the Mac. According to Dave, Toast 8.0 includes TiVoToGo capabilities so that Mac users can finally burn their TiVo recordings!
Roxio’s website has even more details on this product, here’s a snippet taken from the site:
TV Shows Anywhere You Want them Enjoy your favorite TV shows on DVD or on-the-go with Toast’s exclusive support for TiVo and EyeTV digital video recorders. Watch your TiVo recorded shows on your Mac, burn your shows to DVD or DivX disc, or convert for your iPod, PSP or other portable player. Fred & Barney. Gilligan & The Skipper. Ernie & Bert, and now… TV & Toast – another perfect TV pair

This is great news for all you Mac maniacs. It’s disappointing that TiVo couldn’t deliver on their promise but at least another company has stepped up and taken the lead.
I plan on getting a copy of Roxio Toast once I purchase my Mac. If somebody else tries it out before me let me know. I’m interested to hear how it works….

HDBeat has several pictures of a Series 3 TiVo in the wild! Apparently these pictures were provided by somebody who is taking part in the Series 3 beta program. The device looks pretty much the same as what we saw at CES. Two cable card slots and a nifty display on the front. According to the individual who sent in the pictures, the device does not yet have TiVoToGo and the cable company had to go through four CableCARDs in order to get it to work (I wonder if they have TWC).
It does have HME functionality including Yahoo Web Stuff, Live 365, TiVo games as well as others. They haven’t started testing the eSATA drive yet and the biggest issue was the complexity of the CableCARD setup; big surprise. It took three visits from the local cable company and four cable cards before they were able to get all the premium channels working.
Does this mean that the Series 3 TiVo is coming soon?

GearLive.com has posted a wonderful interview (12:38) that took place between GearLive and TiVoPony at CES. I can hardly wait! This video has me even more excited! Based on the demo, it looks as though TiVo has done a great job integrating multiple tuners into one device. Check it out…
I would have reported on this earlier however, the owners of GearLive were having a tough time getting the video encoded as of 12:30 AM this morning….

In your opinion, what’s a good price point for the new Series3 TiVo that was on display at CES? How much are you willing to pay for a TiVo that has dual-tuners and HD support? I know that I would be willing to pay a lot however, I’m not your average TiVo consumer. A couple of people on TiVoCommunity have suggested that the new DVR will go for something like $500-$800! Is that too much for a DVR when you can get a crappy DVR from your cable company for ~$5.00? Will the average consumer be willing to pay that much? I know I just listed a bunch of open-ended questions however; I’m anxious to find out what other people think about buying a Series3 TiVo and how much they would be willing to pay. Let me know….

Update: MegaZone was kind enough to allow me to redistribute the TiVo pictures he took at CES here.

MegaZone is doing a great job covering TiVo news at CES (picture to the left was taken by MegaZone). According to MegaZone, TiVo is doing more at CES then just showing off existing hardware/software (see previous post).
As a matter of fact, it looks as though he is posting pictures of the new Series 3 TiVo as I type this! Check out his post for information on the Series 3 HDTV TiVo, A new AJAXish TiVo Central Online and new features in the HME Api. Damn I wish I could be at CES :(. Make sure you check out the comments, there is some great discussion there.
Update: Dave Zatz has posted a picture of the Series 3 remote (also taken by MegaZone). Here’s another nice picture of the front of the DVR.

According to PVRWire:
The Engadget guys headed over to catch the TiVo presentation at CES today, but it was cancelled in favor of a brief talk and show/tell around their various product stations, although there doesn’t seem to be anything suspicious in the move.
This sounds pretty lame :(. I was hoping for some really good CES news from TiVo. How about more news about the dual-tuner HDTV TiVo?

As I mentioned in a previous post, TiVo has devoted a section of their site to CES news and announcements. Right now, there isn’t much on the site however; I would expect that they (TiVo) will update the page when news is announced. Stay tuned to this site as well as several others for up to the minute TiVo CES news…..
