I was just poking around on TiVo.com looking for information about the TiVo Premiere when I discovered that TiVo has gone ahead and reinstated their official TiVo blog. Hopefully this time around, TiVo will put a lot of effort into the blog and provide us with some great information and discussion. Welcome BACK [...] TiVo has gone ahead and announced that they’re going to hold an invitation only event on March 2nd in NYC (hey TiVo, where’s my invite?). There’s not a lot of info on what the event will cover. My guess is that the event will include information about a new UI along with new hardware. Stay [...] TiVo.com now offers an extended warranty option on both new and refurbished TiVo DVRs. This warranty option is offered as an extension to TiVo’s existing warranty that you automatically receive with all TiVo DVRs (90 day free labor/1 year parts exchange). This time around, the DVR has been signed by Scott Adams (the creator of Dilbert). According to TiVo, 100% of the proceeds from the auction will to go support the AIDS Walk. The discount is only available to Series 1 and Series 2 customers who have owned their DVR for at least one year. The amount of the discount is dependent upon how long you’ve owned your Series 1 or [...] Keep in mind that the first video was produced before EchoStar won a stay. In any case, it looks likely that TiVo will eventually win this case once all the legal wranglings are over with. Update 06/03 @ 8:48PM: EchoStar has won a stay. It looks like this dispute will continue for some time… TiVo’s stock has skyrocketed (up 50%+) on news that Echostar has been ordered to pay TiVo an additional $103 Million for infringing upon TiVo’s “Time Warp” patent. EchoStar still has the option to appeal the ruling however, [...] TiVo executives discuss how the Google Search Appliance has enabled both their customers and call center agents to find answers faster thereby enhancing customer service and reducing costs.
