CNET: Rhapsody On TiVo Review

CNET has published a review of the Rhapsody on TiVo HME application which TiVo recently launched. Overall the review is rather positive and it definitely has me interested in trying Rhapsody on TiVo once my S2 & S3 receive the update.

Despite all these gripes, Rhapsody on TiVo shows a lot lot of promise. When it was working smoothly, it was great to extend the Rhapsody experience to my living room and the service certainly has the TiVo “touch.” While Apple TV is great for bringing your purchased iTunes music collection to your home theater, Rhapsody on TiVo effectively brings millions of songs to your home theater. I’m definitely not ready to give it my full recommendation–it’s much too glitchy in its current state–but if TiVo and Rhapsody can smooth the kinks out, they might have a killer service on their hands.

TiVo Fall 2007 Service Update (9.1)

TiVo Service Update 9.1

TiVo has activated a priority request form for the Fall 2007 Service update (9.1). If you want to get 9.1 before everybody else, all you have to do is head on over to TiVo’s website and enter your TSN (TiVo service number). According to TiVo, it may take up to three business for the update to appear on your TiVo.

The 9.1 service update includes a number of new features including an advanced Wishlist. For more information on the 9.1 service update, you should check out one of my previous posts titled: TiVo Has Started To Roll Out New Software (v9.1.L5).

This update is for TiVo Series2, Series3, and TiVo HD Digital Video Recorders only!
DIRECTV DVRs with TiVo and TiVo Series1 DVRs are not eligible for this update.

Only DVRs with TiVo Service Numbers beginning with the following numbers are eligible for this software:
110, 130, 140, 230, 240, 264, 275, 540, 542, 565, 590, 595, 648, 649, and 652.

(You can find your TiVo Service Number by going to:
TiVo Central -> Messages and Settings -> System Information.)

For Multi-Room Viewing to work in software version 9.1, your other DVRs must also be running software version 9.1. Please sign up all DVRs on your account and have 9.1 installed before attempting to use MRV.
** At this time Multi-Room Viewing is not available on Series3 or TiVo HD units.

I’ve gone ahead and added my TiVos to the list. I’ll let you know when I get the update and I’ll probably post some screenshots for those of you who are interested in seeing what 9.1 has to offer.

TiVo Has Started To Roll Out New Software (v9.1.L5)

According to several posts on TiVoCommunity.com, TiVo has started to roll out new software (v 9.1.L5) to the Series 2, Series 3 & TiVo HD. The update incorporates a number of new features including the following:

TiVoLovers also has a great summary of what’s new in 9.1.L5. Please feel free to leave a comment on this post if your lucky enough to get 9.1.L5. I just tried to update my two TiVos (S2 & S3) unfortunately, neither of them received an update. I expect that TiVo will publish a software priority page for 9.1.L5 sometime in the near future.
