Tis’ The Season To Own A TiVo (Part 2)

RudolphThanks to a couple of DVDs that I created back in 2005, my son and I were able to watch Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer last night. I’m really glad that I took the time to create these DVDs since my son and I had a lot of fun watching this show. Tonight, we’re probably going to watch either The Grinch or Frosty….

I Finally Have A Use For TiVo KidZone

TiVo KidZoneWhen TiVo KidZone was first released I thought it was a great feature however, at the time of its release I really didn’t have a use for it. A year and a couple months later I now find TiVo KidZone extremely helpful. My 2 1/2 year old son now knows how to turn on the TV and I’m pretty sure he even knows how to use the remote. We don’t allow him to watch TV whenever he wants to but, being a 2 1/2 year old he sometimes turns on the TV without our permission. That being said, I decided to enable TiVo KidZone on both my Series 2 and Series 3. As I’m sure you’re aware, there’s a lot of junk on TV that isn’t appropriate for a 2 1/2 year old. If possible, I’d like to prevent my son from seeing something that he shouldn’t. Thanks to TiVo, I no longer have a TV in my house that isn’t “protected”.

TiVo KidZone (Now Playing List)I especially like how KidZone groups all of my son’s shows together and how he only has access to the programs that are appropriate for his age group. I also like how it blocks “Live TV” that isn’t appropriate for him to see. Another nice thing about KidZone is that it is easy to deactivate whenever I want to watch TV.

If you have small children, I highly recommend that you give TiVo KidZone a try. TiVo has done a nice job developing this feature. Check it out if you have a child in your house. I’m sure you’ll be pleased….

As a side note, I would like to thank Brian for putting me down as his TiVo rewards referrer. If you’d like to put me down as your referrer, all you need to do is enter my email address (raianoat AT gmail DOT com) when you activate your TiVo. Thanks Brian!

I Have An Excuse For Not Reporting On TiVo News As Of Late

Update: 7/13 @ 2:37PM: I just received a call from the Doctor letting us know that our son is at NO RISK for the disease. Needless to say my family is extremely happy. This past week has been the worst week of my life. Now I can start to enjoy my newborn son once again. I appreciate all the comments that were left on this post. It’s nice to know that there are people out there who truly care. Thanks again!

Because of this nightmare, I’ve decided to donate all of my July Google Adsense revenue to the Hunter’s Hope foundation for research into this horrible disease. Thanks again and stay tuned for some actual TiVo content on this site. I plan to get back into things in the next couple of days once my emotions calm down.

In case you haven’t noticed, things have been a little show on this site as of late. Last week my wife and I received a call from a local neurologist letting us know that our newborn son did not pass the New York State newborn screen. The neurologist told us that our son tested positive for a rare disease known as Krabbe. Needless to say things have been rather hectic. This past Tuesday, my wife and I brought our son to see a geneticist. Now we’re waiting on some additional testing to determine whether or not my son has the full blown disease or if he is considered a “low to moderate” risk.

Needless to say, I haven’t had any time or desire to report on TiVo. Within a week my entire life has been turned upside down. Everything that use to be important to me is no longer important. Hopefully when we get the test results back we will find out that he is considered low to moderate and the only thing we will be able to do is monitor him from this point forward.

Stay tuned to this site for any updates. I may get somebody to fill in for me but, for now I’m just trying to deal with everything that is going on at home. My hopes are high but if my son does in fact have the full blown disease I’m not sure how I am going to handle it…..

Another Raiano Is On The Way

For those of you who don’t know, my wife and I are expecting our second child any day now (we have a scheduled section on the 21st). Why am I telling you this? Well, for some time after the child arrives, I probably won’t be able to spend as much time on TiVoBlog as I would like. Believe it or not, my family takes precedence over this site ;).

In any event, please stay subscribed. I’ll try and get on whenever I have some free time. Don’t be surprised if you see some blog posts at 3 in the morning.

If for some strange reason you’re interested in find out what my wife and I have, you can always check out my personal blog as well as my family blog.  Wish me luck…..
