Dave Zatz alerted me to the fact that TiVo seems to have taken down the “official” TiVo blog (http://blog.tivo.com). In my opinion, this is a lost opportunity for TiVo Inc. Corporate blogs are great way for a company to communicate with their users. The official TiVo blog could have been a big success if TiVo Inc. would have put some time into the blog. I’m kind of surprised that TiVo has shutdown the blog considering the fact that I’ll beat there are TiVo employees who would have been willing to take part in the blog. Also, wasn’t the TiVo ambassador supposed to contribute to the blog? In any case, it probably is better that TiVo shutdown the blog if their not going to maintain it. R.I.P official TiVo blog. It was fun while it lasted…..

DVRUprade has decided to bring their blog back to life. I know from personal experience how hard it can be to update a blog on a regular basis (personal site). Hopefully DVRUpgrade continues to post content to their blog. I look forward to reading what they have to say. In my opinion, you can never have enough TiVo news and information.
I know I’ve blogged about this before but I can’t help mention the fact that the “official” TiVo blog hasn’t been updated since August! In my opinion, the only thing worse then not having a blog is having one that isn’t updated regularly. Come on TiVo, update the blog and let us know what your plan is for the future…
It’s been seven days since TiVo released the Series 3 TiVo and the “official” TiVo Blog hasn’t even said a word about it. In fact, the blog hasn’t been updated since August 18th! What’s up with that? Believe it or not, there are a lot of people who read this blog. I’m sure it would behoove TiVo.com to at least post something about the Series 3.
The official TiVo blog has posted an interesting discussion with their shipping and events coordinator (Greg-O). In the post, Greg does a nice job describing the shipping department and what he does on a daily basis.

Back in September of 05 TiVo announced that they were looking for somebody who could represent the company as a TiVo ambassador. Just today TiVo announced Matt Ward of San Diego was selected to be the ambassador. Matt has already started blogging on the official TiVo blog. More information on Matt as well as a link to the winning video submission and his essay submission can be found here.
I truly look forward to reading what Matt has to say.
We all know that I’ve been a little criticial of the blog before so I hope that Matt provides the site with some interesting content and discussion. In any case, I’d like to congratulate Matt!

Thomas Hawk has put together an interesting commentary about the official TiVo Blog. I’m not going to comment on it because I don’t want to piss any TiVo people off any more then I already have. In any case, head on over to Thomas’ site for a witty rant.
Is it just me or have other people noticed that TiVo hasn’t been updating their blog all that often? Between Dec. 28th & Jan. 23rd the blog was never updated! What’s the sense in having a blog if you aren’t going to keep it up to date? I had really hoped that the official TiVo blog would be a lot more informative. There has been a lot of TiVo news as of late. Why wouldn’t TiVo use their blog to talk about CES news like the Series 3 TiVo or the fact that TiVoToGo for the Mac is on the way? Come on TiVo, I’m not going to give you a break on this one….
