I bought a TiVo HD yesterday for $250 and they slashed $100 off the lifetime package so I paid $299 for that. I have only been with TiVo since February 2009 so I don’t know why I got that deal but it was great and unannounced!

I’m afraid this price cut may have more to do with….

1. Moxi 2 tuner DVR price cut AND new Moxi 3 tuner DVR price.

2. Christmas

….than a new TiVo coming soon. But if it IS reduced due to a new TiVo, great! It is a little overdue. They don’t seem interested in serious upgrades to the series 3 DVR’s. However, I will say the TiVo HD XL is STILL the best DVR out there, overall. But Moxi looks like it wants to give TiVo a serious go of it.

You forgot to mention that for people who’ve been TiVo customers for 3+ years looking to upgrade, the TiVo HD is $150 and the TiVo HD XL is $400. For existing customers who’ve had service for 1-3 years, it’s $250 and $450 respectively.
