Excellent! Thanks for the info. I just checked their site the other day for an update and it wasn’t up.

Whoa! Woke up this morning and the TiVo Desktop pref pane had eaten up a TON of RAM. Had to turn it off.

    • It’s using a 138 MB on my machine. How much is it using on yours? 138 seems like a lot but I’m not that worried about it considering the fact that I have 4GB and Firefox alone is using ~283MB.

Mine was using over 500 MB of RAM. Over on the TiVo forums (http://forums.tivo.com/pe/action/forums/displaythread?rootPostID=10447039), I was told that memory usage is related to the library sizes. My iTunes music library is about 80 GB and my iPhoto library is about 25 GB.

I have 4 GB on my iMac and I try to keep it to around 2 GB free. iTunes is usually my biggest memory user. Letting the TiVo software eat up 500 MB, for something I rarely/never use, isn’t acceptable to me.

        • Something is not right. My iPhoto and iTunes libraries are large like yours however, tivodesktop is “only” taking up 139MB for me. Have you tried to enable debug?

No, haven’t had a chance to play with it yet. I need to decide what I want to use it for. My music library is all AAC files, which the TiVo doesn’t like. Others have mentioned utilities to convert to MP3 on-the-fly, but I think I’d rather just buy a Airport Express or something.

I enabled the debug log and noticed that it grew VERY quickly. There was a record being added to the log for every AAC file that it didn’t like because it wasn’t an MP3. The RAM use quickly went up to 266 MB. I turned TiVo Desktop off, disabled the music sharing, then turned TiVo Desktop back on. Now RAM use hangs around 66 to 68 MB.

11/10/2009: I just installed this update (1.95) on (2) different macs. One running the newest version of MacOSX 10.5 and the other running the latest 10.6 version of snow leopard. Now when I look at either Macintosh on my TIVO the playlist is missing most of the items back in my iTunes. In fact none of the PLAYLISTS show up. Only the main folders like Albums, artists, etc show up. Am I doing something wrong? I have checked the setting in the Tivo Desktop control panel and I have checked off the item that says publish my completely library. I event went to the alternate selection that lets me choose what playlist show up and none of the appear.

Update: I have just about everything working OK now. However unless I’m missing something there is a feature that no longer works. If you had a playlist entry with a single iTunes radio station in it then you could stream that station over TIVO. It appears this no longer works with Tivo Desktop version 1.95 running on Snow Leopard. The playlist simply doesn’t appear on Tivo.

I have the same problem with Tivo Desktop version 1.95 on my MacBook Pro: it will not send itunes radio station as a playlist.

Any help out there? All other categories publish to Tivo just fine.
