WeaKnees Announces Flat-Fee TiVo Repair Service

The folks over at WeaKnees.com recently announced that they’re now offering a flat-fee TiVo repair service on most non-DirecTV TiVo DVRs (S3 and TiVo HD DVRs are currently NOT supported).  Starting at $149, WeaKnees will diagnose and repair your TiVo DVR no matter what needs to be repaired.

At WeaKnees, we have been reviving TiVo DVRs for years through our extensive inventory of replacement parts. Now, with our ability to repair motherboards, we’re offering flat-fee repairs on most non-DirecTV TiVos. This means that for one price, starting at $149, customers can be assured that their TiVo will be repaired, no matter what (or how many!) problems it has.

On the surface this may not seem like a good deal considering the fact that you can pick up a refurbished TiVo HD for as little as $199.  That being said, you might want to take advantage of this offer if you have a lifetime subscription on your DVR and if you’re not interested in going through the potential hassle of diagnosing your DVR’s problem(s).

Let me know if you try out this service.  I’d love to hear how it works out for you.

I had a terrible customer service experience with WeaKnees earlier. I tried to buy a USB-to-ethernet dongle from them that said that no drivers would need to be installed (I don’t have a landline to dial out for drivers for my S2). When I found that the device would not work with my TiVo S2 out of the box as the website had promised, I emailed them only to get rude, unhelpful replies. Instead of offering a solution, the last email I received from info@weaknees.com was just “I apologize,” and nothing else. Because this wasn’t an expensive item, I decided to not deal with them any more. This is after I referred friends and family to them. Buyer beware… as I can’t quite see that dealing with them for a repair being pleasant.

Here was my ticket… [#RHC-173742]: Ethernet Adapter

I saw your post and agree Weaknees is very rude. I have purchase many things from them over the years but find them to be quite rude. When everything works they are great. When you have a probem, not so great.
