As expected, RIM has gone ahead and released a FREE mobile application which allows you to schedule recordings on your TiVo DVR via your BlackBerry (think i.TV but on a BlackBerry).
Let me know if you get a chance to try out this app. I’d love to hear what you think about it…
With TiVo® for BlackBerry® smartphones you can wirelessly access your channel listings and program your favorite shows while on the go with the familiar TiVo look, feel and features that you’ve come to enjoy at home. Whether you’re working late or stuck in commute on your way home from the office, you can quickly and easily search by title, keyword or actor for what you like to watch—maybe it’s the latest news, a season finale, or a movie. Your BlackBerry smartphone functions just like a remote control, so you can also browse by category, popular shows, daily picks and more. Plus, you can add the show to your calendar to remind you when your favorite show is on. And together with a bright crisp screen, easy-to-navigate menu, shortcut keys and more, your BlackBerry smartphone makes scheduling recordings a whole lot easier.

I got it yesterday and logged in with my tivo.com info and it worked as advertised. I scheduled a program to record and it worked flawlessly. It is a very familiar Tivo-like interface but very Blackberry friendly as well. It is much nicer than m.tivo.com for the phone. My only gripe would be I wish you could browse the tv listing in a guide format as opposed to only being able to search or use the recommendations. Other than the one compalaint I like it a lot!
Blackberry? Sheesh.
Andrew Hime´s last blog ..this is why I’m fat and lonely
It’s not bad. It’s like using the website to schedule programs, but works much better on the blackberry than browsing that awful blackberry mobile site. Doesn’t have the features I’d really like, like being able to see my To-Record and Already-Recorded lists (tivo’s website has that nowadays). But otherwise, I was thrilled to have it. Frankly, it’s faster for me to record a show via my blackberry than the web now.
grrrrr!
It’s not available to Blackberry and Tivo owners in AUSTRALIA!
What is the point of locking us out?!?! honestly this crap makes me want to go back to a BeyonWiz
I’m with Marcus. I’m in Bermuda and can’t get my hands on the damn application. I’m really getting tired of geographic restrictions limiting the value of my stuff. I can only use 1/2 the features of my Tivo, 1/2 the features of my Blackberry, and 1/2 the world’s content-rich websites.
