i.TV: Schedule Recordings Via Your iPhone/iPod Touch

As expected, i.TV has released a new version (iTunes link) of their iPhone app which allows you to schedule recordings on your TiVo.  Earlier today, I took the app for a spin and I’d have to say that I am really impressed.  It truly is great to have one app where you can manage your Netflix queue as well as schedule recordings on your TiVo.

What do you think about i.TV?

  • i.tv is a great idea — unfortunately it’s too slow (bogs down pretty quickly if you actually try to use it extensively) and crashes to the home page if you look at it funny.

I’d make it my primary movie/tv/show-watching application on the iPhone if it were just a little quicker and, most importantly, stable.

    But it has promise…

  • Gotta agree with Marchot. i.TV is very crash-y. My Touch is jailbroken, though. Maybe that has something to do with it. I used it quite a bit a couple of months ago when I was stuck out-of-town and my primary TV was guide-less. Otherwise, I don’t have much need to have TV listings on my iPod.

I haven’t used TiVo Mobile a whole lot, but it’s certainly faster and less crash prone than i.TV. Chances are I’ll stick with TiVo Mobile.

I’d come back to i.TV more often if it were more stable. Also, it would be great if I could schedule a bunch of recordings offline and then when I was in WiFi range, i.TV would sync automatically, sort of like how Evernote works.

It’s too bad that the developer doesn’t understand when to use “its” vs. “it’s” correctly.
