Deal Of The Day: TiVo Extends $200 Series 3 TiVo Rebate
TiVo has gone ahead and extended the $200 Series 3 rebate (PDF). This offer is good until August 30th, 2008. Thanks to this rebate, you can now pickup a Series 3 for $392.45.
If the Series 3 rebate doesn’t have you interested you might want to pickup a refurbished TiVo HD for $200($249.40 brand new).
I own a TiVo HD as well as a Series 3 DVR. To be honest, I like my Series 3 better then my HD mainly because I enjoy the OLED display along with the Glo remote which comes standard with the Series 3.
What do you think about the Series 3? Would you pay an extra ~$143 to get a Series 3?

I wouldn’t pay more for the Series3 now. I’d go with a TiVo HD and a Glo remote.

TiVo Extends Rebates, Again…
It would’ve been more surprising if TiVo hadn’t extended their rebates, given the track record for the last several cycles. They last extended them in April, but that rebate expired on 6/28. So starting on 6/29, and running through 8/30, …

You also forgot to mention that for the extra $143 you are also getting another 100 GB of storage. Isn’t it 190GB vs 300GB?
Although, once the SDV debacle is resolved, so you think there will be a Series 4 with it built in?

Geoff - it is 160GB vs. 250GB. But given the price of drives today 90GB doesn’t justify the extra cost, I don’t think even the 90GB plus the Glo remote does.
Maybe if you just happen to fall into a bracket where 160GB is too little but 250GB is enough not having the hassle of upgrading the unit or adding an external disk justifies it. But you can always just upgrade the internal drive or stick an eSATA drive on the HD (or S3 for that matter).

do you think they’ll come out with another rebate soon?
