Video Of The Day: How To Add More Space To Your TiVo

I upgraded my Series 3 a while ago however, I didn’t use the InstantCake solution that was shown in this video. Instead, I used an upgrade drive from DVRupgrade.com that was already formatted for use with my TiVo. If you own a Series 3 or TiVoHD, you could just go with a DVR Expanderdrive which allows you to add storage to your TiVo without having to open the case.

No matter how you do it, adding additional storage to your TiVo is a great idea. Now that I have a 750GB drive in my Series 3 I never have to worry about one of my recordings being deleted because I don’t have enough space.

I gotta say I am surprised that CNET put up a howto for something that both voids the warranty and exposed the user to an electrocution hazard in an exposed unshielded power supply without mentioning either concern! They even recommend booting the TiVo with the upgraded hard drive with the cover off, ensuring that that power supply has current flowing through it.
