Grid Guide Or TiVo Live Guide? (Which Guide Style Do You Use?)
Which guide style do you use? I tend to stick with the Grid Guide style since it allows me to see upcoming programming for several different channels all at once. Does anybody out there use the TiVo Live Guide style? If yes, why do you prefer the Live Guide format over Grid Guide format?
For all you newbies out there, you can access the Guide Options by hitting the “Enter” button while the guide is displayed on your screen.

As a side note, I would like to thank Andrew for sending me two TiVo reward referrals. Andrew recently activated two TiVoHDs and he was kind enough to put me down as his referrer. If you’d like to put me down as your referrer, all you need to do is enter my email address (raianoat AT gmail DOT com) when you activate your TiVo. Thanks Andrew. It really is appreciated!

I use the life format, it is much better, cause mainly I want to see whats on now (faster - see more channels at once) or dive into one channel and see whats going to be broadcast for hours / days a head,
BTW if you are yahoo widget fun, you can use my tvnavigator widget (and tivoNavigator) to do browsing in a better more efficiant way.

I’ve always used the TIVO Live style on my TIVOs, I hate the grid, it’s one of the things that really turns me off about DTV’s homegrown DVR which only has a grid guide. I like the Live guide because I like to to scan quickly through what’s coming on that channel all the way to end of the guide data, rather than scroll by time across the grid which takes for ever.

Grid guide. In fact, I was unpleasantly surprised when I bought two Toshiba SD-H200 DVD-playing TiVo units a few years back. Turns out these were the only Series2 models without the grid guide option. TiVo did eventually update the software to provide it. TiVo’s grid guide is too slow, even on my current S3 and HD hardware - wish they could do something about it.

Live guide all the way, more information less space and it’s easier to see what’s on in the coming weeks on any giving channel, but of course I don’t watch live TV.

It looks like I’m the minority on this one. IMHO, the Grid Guide isn’t that slow on the S3. Maybe I’ll give the Live guide format a try…

I prefer the default TiVo Live Guide because it’s easier to see upcoming shows for a specific channel without having to scroll. I typically only watch maybe 20 channels tops, so I don’t really have a good use for the Grid

Add me to the Live Guide users as well. Having a defined column separator between what’s on now, and what’s on in the future makes it easier for me to scan the listings, which, if I’m watching live television, is pretty much what I’m doing. i also prefer the contrast of the dark background for quicker reading.

I use the live guide and my wife uses the grid. We each switch it to our preferred method when we’re watching TV. It’s our own little friendly battle.
