Update (11/3 @ 6:04AM): Roxio has posted a public beta which is supposed to fix the issue mentioned below. Go here to download it…
Update (10/31 @ 8:24AM): Roxio has done a great job communicating with the community about the issues they’re having with TiVo’s 9.2 software update. Recently, I was given the opportunity to beta test the next version of Popcorn and to my surprise it includes a fix for the double playback issue I was experiencing. Roxio has said that this update should be released shortly so stay tuned if you are having issues with either Toast or Popcorn.
As I alluded to in a previous post, initially I was having a difficult time getting Roxio’s TiVo Transfer app to detect my Series 3 TiVo. After doing some research, I came to the conclusion that TiVo Transfer uses Apple’s Bonjour protocol to discover and list any TiVos on the network. Sure enough, when I fired up iStumbler my Series 3 wasn’t listed as a Bonjour device (DVR-893D is my S2 TiVo).
Like most computer problems (at least on Windows), I decided to reboot my Series 3 to see if that would fix the issue. As soon as the reboot was complete, my Series 3 showed up in both TiVo Transfer and iStumbler’s Bonjour listing (DVR-02A0).
Now I’m able to connect and successfully transfer a show off of my Series 3 TiVo to my Mac (that doesn’t mean everything is working…continue reading).
Unfortunately, I’m still having a problem with any show that I transfer from my Series 3 TiVo. From some reason, any transferred show that I try and watch plays back at twice the normal speed. I took a look at the settings for Roxio’s Toast Video Player however, I wasn’t able to find a setting that could be causing this problem. I’ve seen that other people are having this issue so I guess I’ll wait and see if Roxio comes out with a fix (who knows how long that will take). Until then, I could use TiVoDecodeManager to get content off of my Series 3 however, I just don’t like how TDM works and I would rather get the “official“ Mac TiVoToGo client to work especially since I’ve already paid for it. I’ll be sure to let you know if/when Roxio comes out with a fix….

As a side note, I would like to thank Peter for putting me down as his TiVo rewards referrer. If you’d like to put me down as your referrer, all you need to do is enter my email address (raianoat AT gmail DOT com) when you activate your TiVo. Thanks Peter. It really is appreciated!

i have downloaded shows via toast8 from 3 different channels and found that the shows from nbc and natl geo were replayed at double speed, while the movie from hdnet played back at normal speed.
Strange! I wonder what could be causing that…
Wow, you are the man.. I have to admit, I didnt think it would work, after all, the Tivo was just sitting there, so it should be seen, but low and behold, and reboot, and I am now transferring a show with Toast.
Thanks a bunch!… And I am an IT guy, I should know that rebooting solves lots of issues.
Ditto,
Tivo Series III reboot did the trick. I would have thought the Tivo would have been rebooted automatically when 9.2 was downloaded. Now Toast sees the Tivo no problem.
I guess I am the exception to the rule… I rebooted and still no Tivo. I am at my wits end — I think I just blew $100 on this Roxio product that isn’t going to work. I have an HD Tivo — anyone have any suggestions?
What kind of error are you getting?
No error message — my Tivo is not listed under “My DVRs”… I checked iStumbler and it’s not listed in there either. Rebooted machine (and computer for good measure) to no avail.
I assume you have the latest version right? http://www.roxio.com/enu/support/toast/software_updatesv10.html
I’m gonna poke around Roxio’s forum to see if somebody else has encountered this problem….
Is this the kind of problem you are having?

Can you describe your problem a little more?
It sounds similar. Basically, in the screen shot you have above where under “Tivo DVRs” and it has 2 different DVRs listed, mine has none. I have not tried rebooting the router and/or modem yet but can try that. I used to use Tivo Decode Mgr with our old DVR and then I upgraded to the HD Tivo and now it says my IP and/or Media Access Key are wrong. I updated the Media Access Key but was still getting that message. I searched my IP and was getting something different from what it had been since we plugged in the router (it should start w/ 192 but the IP search came up with something starting w/ 75 instead). After reading through several posts, I came to the conclusion that TDM wasn’t going to cut it anymore so I went with the Roxio option that they steer you towards on the Tivo site. To no avail thus far. I emailed their customer service (Roxio, that is) on Thursday night — it’s been 4 days and there has been zero response.
sounds like you might be having a networking issue. what is your computer’s network as well as your TiVo’s ip? Have you tried accessing your TiVo via its built-in webserver? Get your TiVo’s IP and try and access it with https://. Let me know what you come up with.
I think I might have found the issue — need to check the IP list from my router… if that solves it, will post here.
