I think that this move by TiVo to add a measurement component (measuring how people are viewing ads, infomercials, etc.) is brilliant! As a direct marketer, anytime I can measure the effectiveness of my media spend, I’m happy about it. I think that people WILL watch ads that they’re interested in. Of course, they’ll skip right past those they don’t care about. TiVo may be changing television advertising into a much more effective and targeted medium. I like that!
By the way, their April study showed that the least fast-forwarded were Direct Response TV spots. Go figure
