I really enjoy TiVo’s latest feature which allows you to rent an Amazon Unbox movie directly from the comfort of your couch. In this video, I went ahead and ordered a movie so that you can see how easy it is to use this new feature. The movie took approximately two hours to download over my DSL connection.
Overall I am extremely happy with Unbox On TiVo. I only wish that a rental wouldn’t delete itself 24 hours after you start watching it. For me this is problem since I can’t guarantee that I will be able to watch the entire video in a 24 hour period.

The 24/hr delete is the one thing that keeps me from using the service. As it stands, I won’t pay more than 99c to rent a movie – and I’ve let Amazon know this. Seriously, for 4 bucks I can get the DVD from my local blockbuster and have it for a week. Two movies a month and I’m better off using a Nexflix account. In both cases I get a higher quality version of the movie, with more features (DVD extras, subtitles, alternate languages, etc). Heck, for 4 bucks I can use Comcast PayPerView and start the movie without waiting for the download, and many titles are HD.
