TiVo’s latest rebate offer (PDF) allows you to get a Series 2 TiVo for next to nothing after rebate. The rebate is valid from July 29th to Sept. 8th and it allows you to receive $150 off of a Dual Tuner TiVo or $170 off a single tuner Series 2 TiVo. Thanks to this rebate, you can now get a dual-tuner 80 hr TiVo for $58.99
($208.99 - $150) after rebate. A single tuner 80 hr. Series 2 TiVo will set you back $13.00
($183.00 - $170).
If it were up to me, I would go with the dual-tuner TiVo. Having just one tuner makes it difficult to use your TiVo. With one tuner, you’re constantly having to decide which show to record. Get a dual-tuner TiVo! You’ll be happy you did it.
If you decide to take advantage of this offer, I would appreciate it if you put me down as your referrer (raianoat AT gmail DOT) when you activate your DVR.

Yesterday I received an email from Brian letting me know that he had a broken Series 2 TiVo that he was willing to donate to a new home. Here’s a copy of the feedback that Brian sent me:
I saw your post about giving away a broken TiVo, and I’m wondering, might you be able to find a home for mine? I’ve got a Series 2 (I even think it’s got a month or two of service left on it) whose Hard drive was failing and which we replaced with a Series 3. I’d hate to take it to the electronics recycling place if someone out there wanted it to play around with. If you know someone who would, or care to ask your readers if they would, or have a suggestion for a better place for me to ask my question, I’d appreciate it. Thanks!
If you’d like Brian’s TiVo, all you need to do is leave a comment on this post. I am going to randomly select a winner just like I did for my Mother’s TiVo. All comments must be submitted by Wednesday @ 12:00AM EDT. Since Brian was nice enough to donate his TiVo, I am going to cover the cost of shipping the unit anywhere in the continental United States.

Todd Spangler has posted an interesting analysis of the catch-22 that TiVo has found itself in. In his article, Todd has come up with a couple of ways that TiVo can survive this dilema. Read on for more information.
Ever since the start of this blog I’ve been saying that TiVo needs to partner with a cable company. Hopefully the upcoming Comcast & Cox partnerships will help bolster TiVo’s position as the number one DVR on the market.

Remember back in October of last year when I blogged about my Mom’s broken Series 2 TiVo? Well, I was wondering if anybody wanted it? Based on the comments I received, it appears as though the DVR needs a new power supply.
If you’d like to own a broken TiVo, all you need to do is place a comment on this post. If multiple people comment, I will randomly select a winner. All comments must be entered by Tuesday (7/31) @ 12:00AM EDT. I will pay shipping as long as the winner is in the continental United States.
