The S3 records in several resolutions, including those 2 (which are almost identical). In the settings, I didn't see an "1080p" option, but again, I don't think any shows broadcast in that. It is not possible to automatically transfer your season passes to a new TiVo. But like all things TiVo, it is extremely easy to setup a Season Pass so I’m not too worried about it. I think this would be a nice feature for TiVo to add….
