Ahh, thank you, that explains it. Are you just forgoing these features then? Or using the TiVo in combination with a cable box? It sounds like depending on the TWC location, they do or do not charge you extra each month per cablecard.

I plan on forgoing those features since I don't currenlty use them anyways. I figure the additional features that the s3 provides far outway not having vod and ppv. As far as the cost is concerned, I'm pretty sure there is a monthly rental fee but I haven't talked to TWC yet so I don't have any details. Stay tuned...I may call TWC tonight.

How exciting! Do you have anything worked out to let you get TWC’s Video On Demand & PPV with TiVo? We just moved and wound up switching from DirecTiVo (loved it) to TWC’s DVR (hate it!) but we hate to lose Video on Demand. Curious if there’s a workaround for this?

As far as I know, there is no work around to getting vod on a Series 3. CableCARD 1.0 allows for one way communication so vod, guide and potentially other services won't work. CableCARD 2.0 is two-way however, I don't think there are any cable companies that support it (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CableCARD).
