My update came Friday. Oddly enough, it got installed when I was trying to add a 500 GB eSATA drive. When I rebooted my S3, I saw the eSATA activation screen and then it displayed "Installing Updates - This may take an hour or more".

I almost panicked, I didn't read this happening to anyone while installing an external drive. But I waited the hour and everything was fine: 96 hours of HD and the 8.3 service update.
