Watch TiVo On A Mobile Phone With SlingPlayer And A Moto Q
Qusers.com has posted an interesting video where they show you how SlingPlayer can access your TiVo using a Moto Q and an EVDO connection. I was really surprised on how well this works. It almost makes me want to get a newer phone and a Slingbox. Maybe I should take advantage of the special offer that Dave Zatz reported on (Slingbox for $150!).
Is anybody out there actually doing this on a regular basis? It’s especially cool if you travel a lot and you don’t want to have to fire up the laptop just to connect up to your Slingbox.
Technology sure is great isn’t it?

It’ll work even better on a Sprint or Verizon 6700 - faster processor and touchscreen UI.

Don’t you get charged minutes because you are using the Internet to watch TV. Your cell phone bills could get pretty hefty.

Karen - you need a data plan. It doesn’t use your minutes, it is charged against your data plan - and pricing depends on the plan. For example, I have an unlimited plan from AT&T for my Treo for about $40/month - that’s just data. My voice plan is another ~$40, and with misc fees, taxes, etc, my cell bill comes to ~$97 a month. It isn’t the cheapest plan I could use - but I’m an IT Director and my work email all goes to my phone, so I need a beefy data plan in any case and my company pays half my bill since I use it for work and personal both.
