Summer Time Does Not Equal TiVo Time

I wrote about this once before but I thought I would mention it again. Just like blogging, I haven’t been spending a lot of time using my TiVo. At most, my wife and I have been watching a half-hour of TV a night. That being said, I am extremely happy that I own a TiVo since I can watch what I want when I want to. During the summer months I tend to watch less TV because I am extremely busy with other things and because summer TV programming is boring in my opinion.

Do you use your TiVo as much during the summer?

My TiVo tends to get a vacation in the summer, after frantically trying to keep up and predict which of the season finales is more important to me (the only victim falling un-recorded being The Amazing Race, this season.)

It’s in the summer that we consider getting Netflix again for a few months, or bumping up to a premium cable package with movies and loaded up Nathan & Matthew (our TiVos) with those.

While my TiVo my get a break from recording, it doesn’t get a break from playing. I am usually so far behind on television by the time summer rolls around that I need the entire summer to catch up on various shows. I’m only halfway through this season’s 24 due to my busy schedule. I’m sure many of you have expirienced how hard it is to dodge the weekly “Can believe what Jack Bauer last night…” conversations at the watercooler.

My TiVo does not get a break in the summer because I TiVo more reruns of old shows, as well as movies and shows on channels such as FX, TNT, and HBO.
