The highly anticipated Series 3 TiVo ( TCD648250A) just received CableLabs verification (PDF). According to TiVoPony, the Series 3 TiVo passed all 444 tests in one try! Nice job TiVo hopefully this means the Series 3 TiVo is even closer to being released.

I wish I could get more exicted by this, but I can’t for two reasons:
1. The CableLabs certification is primarily focused on making sure the device is as restrictive as possible as far as what you (the consumer) can do with it.
2. The Series3 will be 100% useless to me and the other 1/4 to 1/3 of households who subscribe to Satellite TV.
