After having a Series 2 Tivo with a DVD burner for almost 18 months, I wouldn't consider buying another Tivo (Series 2, 3, Dual Tuner, etc.) if it did not have a DVD burner. This has proved to be a very useful feature of my Toshiba RS-TX20.

EnergyGuru,

I believe the tuner inside will take care of "splitting" the signal. I used to have a DVR from Insight Communications here in Indy. It only required one cable going into it. Guess it would be the same with the DT Tivo.

So happy they are finally releasing this though. Especially with the built-in ethernet!

So if you get this two tuner Tivo how do you make it work in practice with a cable STB? Don't the STB's only let you watch one channel at a time? So would you need two STB's from your cable company do record two shows simultaneously on the tivo?

[...] Zatz Not Funny (and others) have some interesting details on an apparent new TiVo that has appeared on Amazon. As of yet, no official announcement. Dual tuners and built in ethernet are nice features, but I was hoping for that cable card option. Will this have an impact on the Series 3 Tivo? Certainly a long overdue upgrade. [...]

Mark V,
As I said here, what about the new pricing plan don’t you like? You can still get a TiVo for $12.95 ($6.95 multiple units)/month. The only difference that I’m not crazy about is the inability to get a lifetime subscription which I haven’t taken advantage of anyways.

Still won't touch it with their new pricing policy. They've lost me as a future customer.
