Updated: I just went through the checkout process. When you add the promotion code, the final price is $139.87! This price also includes shipping free 5-9 day shipping! This almost sounds too good to be true!

It’s $29.99 now ($179.99 minus $150 rebate). I don’t know how you managed to ring up at $139.87, because the rebate itself is $150 — if that were the case, they’d be paying you to buy one!

Two things happened:
1. Amazon raised the price on the DVR. I think it use to be 169.99
2. The promotion code that I mentioned in this post is no longer available.
$29.99 is still a pretty good deal however, like you pointed out, with the previous offer Amazon would have been paying you to buy a TiVo!
