[...] Unless you live in a box, you probably already know that TiVo and Yahoo announced a partnership back in November ‘05 whereby TiVo users can now schedule recordings on their TiVo via Yahoo!’s website. When I heard about this news, it made me wonder why somebody would want to use Yahoo’s website when TiVo already has TiVo Central Online. To try and come up with some type of answer to this question, I’ve decided to put together the following table which is suppose to compare the features of Yahoo! TV to TiVo Central Online.
Looks like I may have "fixed" my problem. I think that the single quote (') in my DVR name was causing a problem when I tried to record a new show. In order to get around this problem I had to update my DVR name on TiVo.com and then click on the "Update DVR List" on tv.yahoo.com. It took a day for Yahoo to notice that the name had changed however, now that I have a new DVR name I am able to record shows using tv.yahoo.com. I don't know if this was the problem however, now things seem to be working. If I get a chance I will try and put a single quote back into my DVR name in order to see if the problem comes back. Has anybody else seen this problem?

I kind of got around the problem however; now I've ran into a new problem. For whatever reason, it looks as though my TiVo account wasn't really linked to my Yahoo account. To get past the previous error I had to access this page:

http://tv.yahoo.com/onlinesch/tivo/settings

And click on the "Update DVR List" link. Now I'm having a problem when I select the DVR that I want the show to record to. For whatever reason it is telling me the following:

unable to find the device with name [Alex's DVR] on your account

I don't know what I need to do from here...Any suggestions? It looks as though my account has been linked because it knows what my DVR is named. Strange.....

I cannot get the scheduling to work. Everytime I click a show to TiVo I get "Document not found." for my next page. Anyone else have this problem? Or is it just lucky me

Interestingly - Yahoo web scheduling response time (in terms of website peformance) is noticeably faster than TiVo Online Scheduling.

Will be great as the Tivo web scheduling tool is pretty slow. My guess is the Yahoo one will be fast like all their other tools.

Good one Alex. I would have expected to see this news on the official TiVo blog as well -- but I think they are off tracking down some guy's dog named TiVo in Idaho at the moment.
