TiVo To Work With Intel’s Upcoming Viiv Platform

TiVo and Intel have agreed to work together on Intel’s upcoming Viiv entertainment PC platform. To be perfectly honest, I’m not exactly sure what the heck Viiv is all about. This is the first time I’ve ever even heard about Viiv.

Digital video recorder pioneer TiVo Inc. plans to use the technology to make it simple not only to transfer from TiVo set-top box to a Viiv PC but also allow for the transfer of shows on the PC to a TiVo. Viiv also will make it easier to move the content to a DVD or handheld player.

TiVo Energy Usage (How Much Does It Cost To Run A TiVo)?

Along with being a supper geek, I’m also a bit of a stickler when it comes to energy usage. If I had to classify myself, I would say that I am a cheap-geek :).  I enjoy technology but I’m always looking to save a buck especially when it comes to energy usage. That being said, I came across this article on news.com. The article talks about how we as consumers are using more and more electricity for our techno gadgets.

Being the cheap geek that I am, I thought I would analyze how much it costs to run a TiVo 365 days a year.  I found this formula online however, I don’t know how many watts a TiVo consumes.  Anybody have an idea?

Happy Thanksgiving From TiVoBlog.com

I bet you are wondering how I am going to incorporate TiVo into this post. Well…think about what you do on Thanksgiving day. More than likely you spend part of your Thanksgiving day watching football and the Thanksgiving day parade? If this isn’t a prime opportunity to use a TiVo than I don’t know when it is. After all, what better way to watch these events than to TiVo them and bypass all of the stupid commercials. Have you already considered doing this?
