Now that TiVo Home Media Engine (HME) seems to be a little more stable then when it was initially released, I was wondering what HME apps are people using? Do you have a favorite application that you think everybody should try? Reply to this post and let everybody know what app(s) you use. Don’t be bashful
.
In the mean time, head on over to these sites and find yourself a new app to try out:

I probably won’t be using any Tivo HME apps until Tivo adds something to the Tivo desktop to make it easy to install and/or manage them. I tried installing Galleon several beta versions ago and was not able to get it working. HME may be more stable, but, in general, I don’t think it’s very user friendly.
Jed,
I have to agree, using HME apps is still a little difficult for the average user. TiVo makes it the easiest however; other apps are harder to install.
I’ve really enjoyed Galleon, but I must say that what Tivo really needs is the ability to play any type of video file from your computer through the Tivo. I really think this is possible doing something like what TVersity (http://tversity.com) has done for allowing unsupported codecs to still be played through similar to Tivo type devices such as the D-Link DSM-320. It seems to basically convert the video on the fly at the computer to something recognized by the device. I’ve searched around for a similar app for the Tivo and have yet to find one, so if anyone knows of one please let me know. And if someone knows of a way to develop this idea please do it the Tivo community would be greatly appreciative.
Jed: You might want to give Galleon another shot. I really disliked the early betas, but the latest releases work really well with 7.2, and I leave it running pretty much 24/7 now. The music options are a huge step up from TiVo’s native app, and I love the weather reports.
I *want* to like the Flickr app, but it’s still way too unstable for me. Spontaneously rebooting TiVos are not fun.
Just released was Audio Faucet 1.5 (formally iSee iTunes) . Best music HME yet. 3 audio options: 1. view mp3s via folder structure and audio on your tv (nothing new from tivo really) 2. view your itunes playlist, genres, artist, podcasts, … (audio is played on your tv), 3. play audio on your computer via itunes and song info shows up on tivo, can also be controlled by tivo.
I suggest the second option myself since you dont need to be by your computer and all itune playlists are available. Really easy to use interface!
