It’s Official, TiVo To Partner With Comcast

TiVo & Comcast Partnership TiVo has agreed to supply its’ DVR to the number one cable company Comcast (Reuters). This is obviously big news for TiVo. I’ve said a number of times (1, 2) that TiVo needed to setup a deal with a major cable company especially since their relationship with DirecTV has been shaky at best. Maybe this news will allow TiVo to reach profitability! Stay tuned for more updates.

When Will TiVo HME Go Live?

I was just wondering if anybody knows when TiVo HME is expected to go “live”? Right now HME is still mainly for developers and people who are interested in playing around with their TiVo. There have already been a bunch of sweet apps released for HME however; I’d like to seem them polished up and put into a install package so that Gradma Jones could install it.

I Guess I’m Not The Only One Who Is Sick Of The TiVo Deathwatch

I guess I’m not the only person that thinks that the TiVo “death watch” is a bunch of garage. Thanks to PVRblog.com, I found this article over at TiVoLovers. MegaZone pretty much sums up my thoughts when he says:

It seems like predicting doom for TiVo is the latest fad, and it is damned annoying to see people spouting the same old bullshit over and over.

On a number of occasions I’ve talked about the supposed death of TiVo and how I think it has been blown out of context. For some reason or another it seems like people are always trying to find something wrong with TiVo. For example, take this article over on engadget. Is it just me or does engadget sound somewhat hypocritical? I mean, one day they love TiVo and the next day they are talking about when it is going to die. I’m not trying to say that you can’t criticize TiVo however; it just seems like somebody is always trying to find something wrong with the company. Instead of criticizing TiVo lets try and promote it. After all, is there another DVR out on the market that is better then TiVo?

Galleon Beta 2 Released

Galleon Logo

Leon has just released beta 2 of Galleon. According to Leon:

I’ve just released Galleon beta 2. This beta includes:
1. ToGo bug fixes
2. ToGo download status bar and download speed.
3. Weather app.

This software looks really sweet (screenshots). I only wish I had time to try it out. Wait a minute…the baby is sleeping in the swing! Should I try it now? Nah…..I’m sure he’ll be up in a couple of minutes :).

On a serious note, head on over to Galleon’s website and try out this latest release. The only way Leon can improve upon it is if he gets a lot of feedback.

Upgrading TiVoBlog To Wordpress 1.5

Wordpress.org

I just upgraded to the latest version of WordPress (the blogging software I use) however; I haven’t finished converting over the old look and feel. I hope to get to this in the near future.

Every Dad Needs A TiVo

Like I said in a previous post, TiVoBlog.com has been slow because my wife and I are proud parents of a two-week-old boy. As you can imagine, I haven’t had much time to blog about TiVo and my addiction. That being said, I haven’t forgotten about my TiVo :). As a matter of fact, I think that I enjoy TiVo even more now that I have less free time. For example, today I was able to watch Syracuse vs. UConn three hours after the game was officially over with. I tried to watch it live however; my son decided that he didn’t want me to. If he needs to be changed then I need to change him. If he decides that he wants to go in his swing then I need to put him in the swing. My son’s schedule pretty much dictates what I do and when I do it.

If you’re about to be a Dad and you don’t have a TiVo then I suggest you get one! A TiVo will allow you to feel as though you have some control over your life ;). Well, I better get going; I need to change my son’s diaper.
