TiVo and the Mac Burning Files to a DVD

I’m not a Mac user however; I found this article to be rather interesting. The author of the article has tried to burn their TiVo files to a DVD. The only problem is that they are running a Mac. The experience they had with their Mac is quite interesting and in fact kind of funny. After running into a number of problems, they’ve decided to go back to their Windows box in order to get the job done.

Has anybody else gone through the same experience with their Mac? I hate to say this but sometimes Windows makes things a lot easier…

I’ve been an Apple user for more than a decade and I just bought TiVo. As for getting the files off the TiVo onto the Mac, the most popular solution I’ve read about is using the Canopus ADVC-100 to create a digital file and pipe it into the Mac with firewire. But with the FCC just giving the ok to TiVoToGo a few weeks ago, we may see a cheaper, more elegant solution in the near future, for both platforms. TiVo likes Mac users and they’ll never leave them out of newly developed products.

You don’t need to capitalize when referencing a Mac, as that’s not an acronym. It looks sort of silly — sort of like calling a comcast DVR a Tivo. :)

  • someone, thanks for pointing that out… :) .
